He began doing stand-up comedy at the age of 15.
Although he was a large influence, DJ holds no relation to the late Richard Pryor . Other influences include Bill Cosby , Eddie Murphy , Martin Lawrence , and Chris Tucker .
He married his wife Shanieke in 2015 and they have three children together.
He has previously opened for talents such as Corey Clark .
