ABOUT DAVID WAGONER
An American writer who published numerous poetry collections and novels, he was twice nominated for the National Book Award. His best-known works include In Broken Country (1979, poetry) and The Escape Artist (1965, fiction).
He graduated from Pennsylvania State University and Indiana University and later taught at the University of Washington.
The Pacific Northwest serves as the setting for much of his writing.
He was born in Ohio and raised in Indiana.
His 1965 novel, The Escape Artist, was made into a film by Francis Ford Coppola .
