ABOUT DAVID LINDSAY
Most famous for his 1920 science fiction work, A Voyage to Arcturus, this English-born Scottish author also published a metaphysical work titled The Haunted Woman and several other novels, including Sphinx and Devil's Tor.
Unable to afford higher education, he worked for an insurance company known as Lloyd's of London. After serving in World War I, he devoted himself to a career as a writer.
Author Harold Bloom wrote The Flight to Lucifer as an homage to Lindsay's A Voyage to Arcturus.
In the early years of World War II, he and his wife established a boarding house in Brighton, England. He died at the age of sixty-nine from an oral infection.
He was influenced by the work of fellow Scottish author George MacDonald .
