ABOUT DAVID CAY JOHNSTON
Pulitzer Prize-winning American investigative reporter who specialized in economic and tax issues.
He started writing for the San Jose Mercury News in 1968 when he was only 19 years old.
He won the Pulitzer Prize for Beat Reporting in 2001 for his articles that exposed tax loopholes and inequities in the tax code.
He had eight children with his wife Jennifer Leonard.
Both he and A.O. Scott worked at the New York Times during the same period.
