Member of the iconic von Erich wrestling family who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009. In 2023, the popular wrestling drama movie The Iron Claw was released, focusing on him and his brothers.
He earned an athletic scholarship to play football and basketball at North Texas State University.
He was an 8-time Texas Heavyweight Champion and two-time Tag Team Champion in the NWA. He stood at 6 feet 8 inches tall.
He married his second wife, Patricia Matter, on June 8, 1982; he had a daughter, Natasha, from his first marriage.
His niece Lacey von Erich became a TNA wrestler.
