Daniel Nathans
ABOUT DANIEL NATHANS
An American microbiologist who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1978 for his discovery of restriction enzymes. He was also the President of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore from 1995 to 1996.
He studied chemistry, philosophy and literature at the University of Delaware, and received an M.D. degree from Washington University in 1954.
He was given the National Medal of Science in 1993.
He was born the last of nine children to Russian immigrant parents.
He went to the University of Delaware like Jill Biden .
