Folk singer and author who released the political songs "Bush Must Be Defeated" and "President in 2004."
He released his first independent album, Dog Boy Van, in 1996.
He won the 2007 Independent Music Award for Best Folk/Singer-Songwriter Album.
He grew up in Mount Vernon, Iowa. He later had a daughter named Lulu.
He has often been compared to folk singer Bob Dylan .
