Jazz musician and composer who influenced avant-garde jazz and worked on several albums with a long list of collaborators.
He studied music at State University of New York College at Old Westbury.
He played with a number of famous jazz musicians, including Sun Ra , David Murray , and Lester Bowie .
His family was residing in Hempstead, New York, when he was born.
He toured with pianist Abdullah Ibrahim in 1981.
