He entered the 2017 MLB Draft directly out of Hamilton High School.
He and his brother played a lot of whiffle ball growing up, but only faced off on the diamond once.
His brother is fellow major leaguer Cody Bellinger .
He became teammates with Wil Myers as a member of the San Diego Padres organization.
