He was Pac-10 Wrestler of the Year his senior year at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
He won his first 11 MMA fights before losing at UFC 142.
He married Danielle Mendes in 2010.
His first professional loss came against Jose Aldo at UFC 142 in January, 2012.
