ABOUT CATHERINE PUGH

American politician who was elected to the Maryland State Senate as a Democrat in 2007. She was named the Democratic nominee for Mayor of Baltimore in 2016.

She attended Morgan State University, where she completed both her undergraduate and graduate studies. She was elected to her first office, Baltimore City Council, in 1999.

She's worked in a variety of capacities over the course of her career, including as a newspaper editor and local TV host. She also founded the firm C.E. Pugh & Company.

She was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, but has spent most of her career in neighboring Maryland.

She narrowly beat Sheila Dixon to earn the Democratic nomination for Mayor of Baltimore.
