ABOUT CAROLYN MARA

Photographer who gained major attention with her "Self Help" series, in which she used creative self-portraits to illustrate her depression and isolation. The series, as well as her unique style of family photography, has given her an Instagram following of more than 250,000.

She was raised in Houston, Texas. She earned a B.S. in psychology from Southern Methodist University and an MFA in photography, video and related media from the School of Visual Arts .

Her photo "Wonderland" was included on Time's list of The Best iPhone Photos of 2016.

She has resided in Miami with her husband and three children. They have two sons and a daughter together.

In April 2023, she created a TikTok inspired by director Wes Anderson .
