ABOUT CARL DEUKER

An American author of young adult novels, he is best known for works such as On the Devil's Court, Heart of a Champion, and Night Hoops. His novels earned Young Adult Book of the Year Awards in South Carolina, Nebraska, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Iowa.

He wrote film and book reviews for The Seattle Sun. In 1989, he published his debut novel, On the Devil's Court.

He earned a Master's degree in English from the University of Washington.

He grew up in San Francisco, California. He received his undergraduate education at the University of California-Berkeley.

He and Karen Hesse are both authors of young adult fiction.
