The first band he was a member of was called Marty Wilde's Wildcats who he was with from 1959 until 1961.

He was the first member of The Shadows to release a solo album.

He has a son named Warren Bennett who also worked as a musician.

He performed as a member of The Shadows with Cliff Richard .
