ABOUT BRETT SHAFFER

Deaf American comedian, content creator, and software engineer known for his innovative and humorous approach to storytelling through American Sign Language (ASL) and for his comedy brand The Flipside, which delivers a series of comedic sketches that resonate with both deaf and hearing audiences.

He graduated from the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in 2003. His passion for technology led him to pursue a career as a software engineer. He had an interest in comedy from a young age, which remained as an adult.

He started creating and sharing comedic content online on Instagram in 2018. He began gaining a large following in the early 2020s. He has collaborated with DeafNation. He made a guest appearance on NHL in ASL in June 2024. He is a dog owner.

He was born and raised in Pennsylvania. He has three children.
