Her parents wanted her to become gainfully employed before pursuing a creative pursuit like dancing, though she developed her passion for dance in high school.
In addition to dancing, she joined an all-girl urban pop music group.
Her father is Korean and worked as a police officer. Her mother is African-American.
She and Hannah Cormier were both cast in L.A. Clippers Dance Squad.
