ABOUT BIRDY SWEENEY
Irish actor and comedian who has had roles in many films including The Crying Game, The Butcher Boy, and Angela's Ashes. He began playing Earmon Byrne in the TV show Ballykissangel in 1996.
He started out as a comedian in local clubs for thirty years before starting his acting work as an extra on BBC Northern Ireland's version of Too Late to Talk to Billy in 1982.
He received his nickname, Birdy, due to his ability to imitate birds.
He had eight children with his wife Alice.
He starred in the 1999 movie, Angela's Ashes, with Emily Watson .
