Reality star who rose to fame as the father on the Discovery Channel series Alaskan Bush People, which follows his family's lifestyle in the Alaskan wilderness.
He and his wife raised their family in the wild and went up to nine months without outside human contact before starring on the show.
He served time behind bars on account of second-degree unsworn falsification after lying on government forms about his Alaskan residency.
He married Ami Brown in 1979. He was the father to children Matthew, Joshua , Gabriel , Noah, Snowbird and Rain.
He and son Joshua were both arrested and had to compete community service on account of lying about their residency in return for government assistance.
