ABOUT BERNIE GEOFFRION
Former NHL forward known as "Boom Boom" Geoffrion and considered one of the innovators of the slapshot.
He was awarded the NHL's Calder Trophy for the league's top rookie in 1952.
He was the second player in NHL history to score 50 goals in one season.
He was the son of Jean-Baptiste Geoffrion and Florina Poitras.
He was a teammate of the legendary Maurice "Rocket" Richard on the Montreal Canadiens from 1950 to 1960.
