Comedian, political activist and actor who founded the Five Star Movement, an Italian political party. At the 2013 general election his party won 25.55% of the vote for the Chamber of Deputies.
He studied to become an accountant, but fell into a career as a comic instead.
He was found guilty of vehicular manslaughter in 1980.
He married Parvin Tadjik and had six children.
He corresponded with the Dalai Lama .
