Actress who earned both a Theatre World Award and a Tony Award nomination for her starring role in the 1971 musical Ain't Supposed to Die a Natural Death. She also appeared on such television shows as Law & Order and The Sopranos.
She attended the Chicago Music Conservatory and also studied briefly at Juilliard and Yale.
She received an Audelco Award for her supporting role in the Signature Theater Company's production of A Lesson Before Dying.
She was born Beatrice Lucille Williams in Chicago, Illinois. She died in New York City at the age of seventy-nine.
