Known for his coverage of the trial of Saddam Hussein; the Arab Spring of 2010 to 2012; and the Gaza War of 2008 to 2009, this prominent Los Angeles-based broadcast journalist worked for NBC News, CNN, and Al Jazeera.

He earned a degree in international relations from American University and subsequently worked for NBC's Washington, D.C. office, covering stories related to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Working for Al Jazeera's English-language station, he covered the events of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.

A native of Cairo, Egypt, he grew up in his native country, as well as in the United States, as the son of a Palestinian mother and an Egyptian father.
