ABOUT ARLETTY
Actress who rose to fame during the 1930's and 1940's in French film. Some of her most notable roles came in Children of Paradise (1945), Hotel du Nord (1938), and Madame Sans-Gêne (1941).
She began her acting career in French theater in 1920. She played in mainly music halls before making her film debut in 1930.
She starred as Blanche in the French production of A Streetcar Named Desire. She would later appear in the 1962 classic war film The Longest Day.
She became romantically involved with a German Luftwaffe officer during WWII. She served 18 months imprisonment after being found guilty of treason following the war.
She appeared alongside John Wayne and Richard Burton in the 1962 classic The Longest Day.
