Anthony Hernandez
ABOUT ANTHONY HERNANDEZ
American photographer known as much for his early-career work photographing people as for his later work chronicling nature and human establishments. His work has been featured in the J. Paul Getty and Guggenheim Museums. He has been awarded the National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship three separate times.
He was a US Army medic in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969. His career took off in earnest in the 1970s.
He's received several awards for his work, including the Rome Prize Fellowship and Higashikawa Prize. He was an artist-in-residence at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in the mid-1980s.
He married author, Judith Freeman.
His early work showed similarities to that of Garry Winogrand .
