American film and television journalist who became the editor-at-large for IndieWire and the founder of the blog Thompson on Hollywood. She has also written pieces for The New York Times, The Washington Post and Wired.

She graduated from the Department of Cinema Studies at New York University .

She authored the 2014 book The $11 Billion Year.

She was born and raised in New York.

She co-hosted an episode of Ebert & Roeper with Richard Roeper in December 2006.
