Initially, she hoped to be an actress, and studied Drama at Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1937.
She won the Neiman Marcus Fashion Award in 1952.
She had two children with her husband, Tom Fogarty.
She and designer Nicole Miller have both had their clothes sold at department store, Neiman Marcus.
