He was selected 132nd overall in the 1980 NHL Draft by the Edmonton Oilers.

He won 3 Stanley Cups in his career, in 1984, 1985, and 1987, all with the Edmonton Oilers as a backup to Grant Fuhr .

He was born in Penticton, British Columbia.

While with the Dallas Stars he shared goalkeeping duties with Arturs Irbe .
