ABOUT ALVA JO FISCHER
Female baseball player who played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League from 1945-1949. The Alva Jo Fischer Softball Complex, founded in 1975, was named in her honor.
She was born in San Antonio and got her start in professional baseball with the Rockford Peaches.
She was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame as part of the "Women in Baseball" wing in 1988.
She retired from baseball following the death of her father.
She and Jackie Mitchell are two of the most beloved female professional baseball players of all time.
