ABOUT ALBERTO SALAZAR
Record-holding distance runner who won three New York City Marathons in the 1980s.
He was the state cross country champion in high school.
He was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 1997. Later he began coaching Olympic level distance runners.
His parents raised him in Cuba. He had two sons and one daughter with his wife Molly.
Ahmad Rashad is also a member of the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame.
