ABOUT ALBERTO RIVERA

Remembered for his vocal opposition to Roman Catholicism, this Fundamentalist Christian blamed the Catholic Church for everything from Nazism and Communism to economic recessions and presidential assassinations. His rhetoric fueled the conspiracy theories of evangelical Christian comic book writer Jack T. Chick .

His background is subject to debate: he claimed to have been a Jesuit priest before converting to Protestantism; however, a journalistic expose revealed that he was likely a career criminal.

He died in his early sixties and was laid to rest in Tulsa, Oklahoma's Rose Hill Cemetery.

Like the details of his early life, the specifics of his family situation are somewhat murky. Born in Spain, he eventually relocated to the United States, where he may have had two children with a woman named Carmen Lydia Torres.

Rivera not only influenced Jack T. Chick 's work, but was actually featured in several of Chick's comics, including The Prophet, The Godfathers, and Double Cross.
