ABOUT ADRIAAN BASSON

Investigative journalist who began writing for The Mail and The Guardian in 2007, and became the editor-in-chief of News24 in 2016. In 2012, he won the CNN African Journalist of the Year print award.

He studied at Stellenbosch University, where he was made head editor of the campus publication Die Matie. He graduated in 2002 with a bachelor of arts.

He wrote the books "Finish & Klaar: Selebi's Fall from Interpol to the Underworld" in 2010 and "Enemy of the People: How Jacob Zuma Stole South Africa and how the People Fought Back" in 2017.

He married radio producer Cecile Basson.

Helen Zille is also a well-known journalist from South Africa.
