Journalist who was made famous for his contributions to The New Yorker until his death.

He enrolled at Dartmouth College in 1920.

During World War II, he achieved notoriety as a war correspondent.

He was married to Jean Stafford , his third wife, until the time of his death in 1963.

He and journalist Mike Lupica both contributed heavily to The New Yorker.
